The next-generation Hyundai Elantra will be based on an all-new platform, as per the latest update in Korean media.

The new Elantra will be getting the next-gen design language too. The recently seen Hyundai Tucson-like front grille we be seen on the new Elantra. This is a trapezoidal front grille with horizontal chrome slats on it.

The LEDs are on the headlamps and this styling does look a lot more mature.

The Elantra is likely to be unveiled in the coming few months at an auto show in Korea. The Elantra 2016 will be launched in Korea by mid-2015. The Elantra facelift is still due to come to India, which was launched in Korea in mid-2013, so the new-generation Elantra is still a while away. As per the Hankyung report, the Elantra will be powered by a new range of Hyundai engines. One of them could be the 1.6-litre T-GDi engine, which is the turbo version of the GDi engines.

This will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.

This year Hyundai will be launching the i20 Active and then it will be followed by the ix25, which the Korean manufacturer’s SUV for the Indian market against the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano. Recently, Hyundai had upgraded the Verna with a new front grille and some upgrades in its mechanicals as well. Hyundai will also be adding the AMT option to the i10 and this will soon be followed by the Eon 1.0 and Eon 800cc also.
