Mahindra Marazzo: Launched at a price of ₹9,99,000 lakhs

The Marazzo has been launched today. This car will be Mahindra’s challenge to the Toyota Innova, Renault Lodgy and the Maruti Ertiga. It is going to be a three-row MPV with a lot of utility and practicality wrapped in one great package. The car does not carry forward any design. It’s a collob between the design studios in Italy, India and America. It will beat the Maruti Ertiga to the punch in entering the market first.

One of the most awaited ergonomics aspect has been reveled. That is the Marazzo’s design and seating configuration for the second and third row. The car appears to get captain seats in the seven seater format and a middle row bench in the eight seater format. This will allow customers a choice between practicality and comfort to choose either.

The car is going to be positioned as the plusher and premium alternative to the Maruti Ertiga. The car will sit in the same price range as the old Toyota Innova. If the car sits in the 10 lakh to 15 lakh price range it will be a very good value-for-money alternative. The car will be a 7 to 8 seater MUV.

The name shows Mahindra sticking to its guns, by ending all the cars names with an ‘O’.

Mahindra Marazzo Launch

The Marazzo is launching today and is thus going to be launched before the upcoming Maruti Ertiga. Buyers will be given a choice between two brand new cars. We will also compare them and let you know more after we have gotten our hands on these cars.

Mahindra Marazzo Price in India

The car was expected to be within the 15 lakh price range. And the car starts from 9,99,000 lakhs. This would make the car more expensive than the Maruti Ertiga which will not see a big difference in price anytime soon with its new generation model coming out this year. The car will however, be an alternative to the Renault Lodgy which is part of this segment. The Marazzo will be a value for money alternative to the Innova Crysta too.

Mahindra Marazzo Exterior

While the dimensions of the Mahindra Marazzo are not out, we expect the car to be longer than the Ertiga and wider too. Mahindra says it is has the largest footprint of any vehicle in it’s line-up. While not showing anything else or design. The car is supposed to be a departure on the design front with aerodynamics being at the forefront. The car design Mahindra says, “Takes inspiration from the shark”. 

The car is expected to come with at least 16-inch wheels. The car will get big projector head lamps as seen in the spy shots of this car. The roof line is sportier compared to other MPVs as it falls back. The grille too is said to be inspired by the teeth of a Shark. Overall, this car is expected to look a lot like its SUV siblings.

There is going to be a lot of chrome on the Mahindra Marazzo. From what we can make out of the teaser images and the spy shots of the car, there is chrome on the rear boot lip. There is chrome added to the taillamps, the grille and the side of the car. We have not been able to see the the door handles, but we expect them to be chrome too.

The Mahindra Marazzo gets projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, fog lamps that look inspired by sharks. The car also has a shark fin antenna.

The size and rear shape shout practicality like the Renault Lodgy. The car will have LED tail lamps which are inspired by a shark. We expect chrome inserts all overall the Mahindra Marazzo. The car gets a reclining roof line which makes it look sporty and different than regular MPVs like the Innova, Ertiga and Lodgy.

On the outside it will get projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs, large front grille and even 16-inch alloy wheels. The new Mahindra Marazzo will even have electrically folding mirrors too. At the back, LED tail lamps shall be present. We are not certain about the ground clearance of the MPV at the moment. But it should be good enough.

Mahindra Marazzo Interiors

The Mahindra Marazzo will have plusher and richer interiors than the Maruti Ertiga. The dashboard shot has been shared by Mahindra. The dashboard gets premium dual tone interiors with a piano black dashboard, pearl white and chrome finishes. It also spots a big touchscreen infotainment system. Features that are predicted to come as standard for some of the variants are, automatic climate control, auto headlamps, cruise control, one-touch up and down windows and electrically adjustable mirrors.The instrument cluster has purple touches and will have a great array of information on it.

The seats on the top variants might get a option for leather. The seats themselves could have a configuration option. The Mahindra Marazzo is projected as seven to eight seater for some variants.

The Mahindra Marazzo will get 1st in segment features like hill-hold,hill descent control, and traction control. The Marazzo will also get cruise control. The car is going to have a 1st in segment Surround Cool Technology. This is an integrated air conditioning system on the roof of the car.

There will be a big touch screen that can rival the infotainment system in the Ertiga. A lot of storage is expected out of this car. The 2^nd and 3^rd row seat configuration will also be the talking point. Will it get captain seats in the second row like the Innova?  The Mahindra Marazzo will have a lot of boxes to tick off. Space will be one of the biggest highlights on this MUV. The MUV should have a large boot too. The seats will fold flat and offer good enough space.

Mahindra Marazzo Engine

It will be a front wheel drive car with an engine that has been jointly developed and made Mahindra and Ssangyong.

The Marazzo will be using a all new 1.5-litre diesel engine that will make around 112bhp and 300Nm of torque. The car will have both automatic and manual options. These engine specifications will make the Marazzo more powerful than the Maruti Ertiga and the Renault Lodgy. The car is also going to be the first Mahindra built on a moncouque platform. This will make the ride of the car very smooth and planted.

The Mahindra Marazzo could also get disc brakes at the front and the rear. This will add to safety even more. There is also a diesel automatic in the works for this engine. The car could be offered in petrol as well in the future.We reckon, this new diesel auto will also come on the Mahindra Tivoli also.

Another thing, the Mahindra Marazzo will be an all-wheel drive car. The car is also complient with the BS6 norms.

Mahindra Marazzo Mileage

With the diesel, the mileage has of the Mahindra Marazzo to be good. We expect this car to get 14km/l to 16km/l at least. The six-speed gearbox will be a boon to mileage with the extra high gear for highway cruising.

Mahindra Marazzo Competition

The MPV’s launch around the same time as the Maruti Ertiga, things are bound to get competitive and hot. Buyers will soon have a variety of options. This car will be an important and segment crashing launch by Mahindra. The Mahindra Marazzo is already challenging the Maruti Ertiga and Renault Lodgy.
