2018 Tata Tiago JTP: Launched at Rs 6.39 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi)

The 2018 Tata Tiago JTP was first shown at the 2018 Auto Expo. After many rumors, spy shots and teasing by Tata we have finally seen the car. Tata has launched the JTP version of the Tiago. It will be the performance part with affordability factor roped into one exclusive package.

Tata is know to have in the past experiment with race-bred cars.

The Bolt and the Indica Vista both were great cars. Tata had also shown racing concepts for both. But none came to life. What will the Tiago JTP be like? Read further to know more.

Tata Tiago JTP Launch Date in India

The Tata Tiago JTP has been launched. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. This will be a good move by Tata and will cater to those who demand something extra from their hatchbacks.

Tata Tiago JTP Price India

The Tata Tiago JTP was expected to be priced very aggressively. We expected it to be priced within range of the diesel Tata Tiago. The car has been priced at Rs6.39 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The car has been got a booking amount of Rs 11,000.

The car will be sold at select dealerships across the country in 11 cities.

Tata Tiago JTP Mileage

Though this is not a car where one would care too much about fuel efficiency, the Tiago JTP would return about 9-10km/l in the city and about 15 km/l on the highway.

Tata Tiago JTP Design

The Tiago JTP was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. This is the more hardcore and performance oriented version of the regular Tiago. The car is being built in collaboration with Jayem Automotives, hence the full form Jayem Tata Performance (JTP). The base design of the Tiago JTP is going to be the same. Added to the regular Tiago will be smoked headlamps, bigger alloys, a hood vent, a new black grille and most importantly, the car has been lowered by 4mm. This will result in better handling and performance.

The car gets cool JTP badging all around the car. The car also gets tweaked suspension and has a more menacing angle and stance. The headlights have a chrome element now.

Tata Tiago JTP Interior

The interior of the Tiago JTP will see some minor but visually impactful changes. Overall, we expect the cabin to be festooned with JTP badging and logos.

The interiors are all-black, with red surrounds for the AC vents, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel features contrast stitching. The seats feature a red hexagonal motif stitched into them, and there’s double contrast stitching on the seats as well as the gearshift gaiter. Even the pedals are sporty aluminium examples. Additionally, both cars get a Harman 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and voice command recognition. Also standard are dual airbags and ABS with corner stability control.

Tata Tiago JTP Specifications

The Tata Tiago JTP is going to use the Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol engine which will be turbocharged. The engine is going to make 114bhp and 150Nm of torque. This will also get a six-speed gearbox which will have modified gear ratios to match the cars performance. This will be some serious bang for the buck. The 0-100 time has been disclosed to be at around 10 seconds by Tata.

The car is also expected to get some lighter materials used for weight saving. The Tata Tiago JTP will have better brakes. It could get disc brakes at the front and back like the Baleno RS.

From what we are hearing this car will have a highly tuned suspension and the shock absorbers will have a stiffer setting. There will be no change to the chassis layout. The underbody will see a change with the new exhaust system though.

Tata Tiago JTP Summary

The car has been also spotted doing some performance tests with the Baleno RS. So that’s one benchmark we know of. The Tiago JTP is a highly anticipated launch this year.
