India has been home to many indigenous and domestic cars. There are plenty of car brands operating in the market. While there are a few car models that are always top of the mind, there are some cars that are not often talked about, neither are their sales numbers impressive. We list down five such vehicles that deserve much more and are actually underrated, while being affordable as well. Read further for the Top 5 underrated cars below ₹ 10 Lakhs.

Fiat Punto Evo

The Fiat Punto came with first-in-class features when it was launched way back in 2009. It had a long feature list, never seen on any hatchback before. Apart from that, the high points of this hatchback were a solid build, excellent drive dynamics and a comfortable ride quality. The facelift brought in some more features and premium looks. From once being the most awarded hatchback in the world, the Fiat Punto finds itself in a state of oblivion. It comes with 2 engine options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel. Then there is the Abarth Punto which comes with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with 140bhp of power. This is one helluva performance hatchback that is affordable too.

Model Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Punto Evo ₹ 4.8 lakhs – 7.5 lakhs
Abarth Punto ₹ 9.67 lakhs

Nissan Micra

New Nissan Micra 2017

Nissan’s mainstream car for the indian market was the Micra. One of the best selling cars in Europe, the Micra found itself in troubled waters in this country. Though being a competent car in most aspects, be it engine, build, driving dynamics and comfort, the Micra struggled to challenge the mighty hatchbacks of Maruti and Hyundai, in the country. The Micra comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel one. Apart from a 5-speed manual transmission, it also has a CVT (automatic). Now this CVT is better than many automatics we have driven. Its quick, slick and reliable. The only downside is the service network of the company, which is not as efficient as one would like it to be. The car had got a facelift sometime back, which in our opinion looks good.

Model Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Nissan Micra ₹ 6.8 lakhs – 8.5 lakhs

Nissan Sunny

nissan sunny 2017

Another car from Nissan, which one may call as the sedan version of the Micra, the Sunny is unlike any other sedan in the country . It comes with oodles of space at the rear, which is one of its USPs. The Sunny got a mid-life facelift which included a new front fascia and some additional features. The car offers a pliant ride and is most suited for those who are mostly chauffer driven. The Sunny is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel. Both engines come with a five-speed manual gearbox and there is also a CVT available.

Model Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Nissan Sunny ₹7 lakhs – 9.5 lakhs

Renault Lodgy

Renault Lodgy Stepway library

Renault’s people mover was launched as a competition to the Innova. This MPV offers generous amount of space inside and is also very comfortable. Build on the platform which is also shared with the Duster, the Lodgy has excellent build that makes it a go anywhere MPV. It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine, from the Duster and comes in 2 states of tune – 83 bhp and 108 bhp. The Lodgy though being a promising vehicle, failed to excel in the market, for reasons unknown. The not so attractive design could be a reason for debate. The Lodgy is a good package and worth considering if one opts for an MPV. It also offers good discounts on select variants that make it an unmatched deal. With features like touchscreen audio, reverse camera, cruise control and a six-speed gearbox, the Renault Lodgy hence features in this list.

Model Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Renault Lodgy ₹8.3 lakhs – 11.8 lakhs

Force Gurkha

This SUV is something which has very little competition. The Gurkha has received a facelift and is a much improved vehicle with the upgrades now. This is a no frills SUV that is a workhorse. With looks inspired from the Mercedes G-Wagen, the Gurkha has lived many years. A Mercedes-derived 2.6-litre diesel engine powers this 2.5 tonne beast. Though not the fastest or the one offering the most creature comforts, the Gurkha has capabilities which very few vehicles have. A robust build and the ability to go extreme off-roading, due to the dual differential locks, makes this vehicle unique but unfortunately, underrated as well.

Model Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Force Gurkha ₹9.2 lakhs – 10.2 lakhs
