Maruti Ciaz 2019 with 1.5-litre diesel launched for Rs 9.97 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi)

The Maruti Ciaz now looks more sophisticated and premium. What was missing from the package was a diesel engine. This issue has now been addressed with the new in-house developed, 1.5 litre diesel engine which offers improved performance and claims to have more refined NVH levels too. The new Ciaz will no longer get the 1.3 DDiS engine. The car will also get a new six-speed gearbox that will add to the appeal. The Ciaz will also be the recipient of the companies brand new 1.5-litre diesel engine. The car will be the first to receive the new 1.5-litre DDiS engine. The Ertiga, S-Cross and other cars will get it later. This engine will stop Maruti from depending on Fiat for the outdated 1.3-litre diesel engine. This engine is also BS-6 compliant. This new 1.5-litre diesel engine of the Maruti Ciaz 2019 will be a much-needed addition in the products offerings.

The new diesel Ciaz will take on the competition, the Verna and the City, both of which have diesel mills that are more powerful. The Yaris comes only in petrol. The Maruti Ciaz 2019 will not see any major updates. There will not be any change in the dimensions. The car will continue with the changes it received with its facelift from last year.

The pricing is good. Maruti will keep the Ciaz extremely competitive. The new engine will make it slightly more expensive than the current model.

The new engine that will be seen on the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 2019, will be the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.3-litre unit has been discontinued on this car. The new engine has 94bhp of power and 224Nm of maximum torque. Some of the key highlights of this engine are –

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 2019 Mileage

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 2019 will return about 10km/l in the city (for the manual) and about 15km/l on the highway with the petrol. At the same time, the automatic will return 9km/l in the city and close to 14km/l on the highway. The diesel will return about 16km/l in the city and close to 20km/l on the highway. The company claims 26km/l on the diesel but real eorld numbers are expected to be lower.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift 2019 Design

Though the current Maruti Ciaz has become a familiar face and hence an update is important. The Ciaz does seem a lot more premium and upmarket than the rest of the Maruti cars. A new larger front grille will be seen on this new car, followed by pulled back headlamps. Maruti has done a stunning job with the design. This sedan has good road presence and is in fact, the longest sedan in its category. The long proportions of the car give it a very premium look. The facelifted Ciaz distinguishes itself with a new grille design with chrome garnish on higher-spec trims and LED headlamps and tail-lamps, new front and rear bumpers and 16-inch alloy wheels on the top-spec variant.

The interiors of the Ciaz are pleasing and the new car will continue to have this feel. The plastic quality, the fit and finish have been good. The touch and feel of the materials are also better than all other Maruti cars. The black and beige interiors look good and the interiors have soft touch locations. The Maruti Ciaz 2018 will have the same dashboard layout which is simple and functional. There will be features one requires and pretty simplistic. A large touchscreen will sit at the center and below that will the controls for auto air-conditioning. The instrument cluster is clear and easy to read as well. There is a neatly integrated driver information system as well. This will be seen on the Maruti Ciaz 2018 too. Not too much of a change inside the vehicle, as the interiors look stylish and appealing.

The front seats are comfortable and there will not be any change in it. The rear seats lack the thigh support but are extremely spacious. There is more than sufficient space for rear passengers be it knee room or head room. However, what goes missing the comfort. The seats could have been a bit more supportive for tall passengers. The boot size is also large enough on the Maruti Ciaz 2018, making it good to be used for a weekend for a family of four. As it is a facelift there shall be no change in the dimensions, space and even the boot size of the sedan.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 2019 gets a speed alert system and seatbelt reminder for both driver and front passenger, and these will be offered as part of standard safety features.
