The company is coming up with new products in the near future. The other new products and refreshes that are in the pipeline include the Maruti Wagon R 7 Seater, New Swift, New DZire, New Alto, Ciaz facelift, Celerio facelift, Creta-competition SUV. Maruti Suzuki – Maruti 800

This was the company’s first car for India. Named as the Maruti 800, instead of the Alto. This small hatchback had revolutionised the Indian car market. This was small and compact, however it had decent space inside. Small engine that could match up to the competition. The engine refinement was a lot superior to the competition and the Maruti 800 was even reliable. This had changed the entire game for the Maruti back in the mid 1980s.

Maruti Suzuki Plant and Production

At the moment, Maruti Suzuki has two plants in Haryana. One is in Gurgaon and the other one in Manesar. These both plants are running at their full capacity. This is the first time that Suzuki is looking at setting up its plant in India. This will be in Gujarat. Suzuki will be making India as its new export hub as Japan’s product cost have shot up. From here, Suzuki will be giving vehicles without any profit on them. So with the new plant, Suzuki will be able to capitalise on exports and also increase its production.

The current production capacity of the two plants is 14,50,000. This will be boosted once the new Gujarat plant will be functional. The new Ignis, Vitara Brezza and even the Baleno will be manufactured there itself.

Maruti Suzuki has taken up several safety initiatives. One of them safe driving. The company has set-up several driving schools with the help of its dealer network. This is a part of the company’s CSR team.

Once the company has a market share in India of up to 70 percent. This started to decline and the company reached about a level of just below 40%. With the launch of new products, the company has pulled back the numbers in excess of 40%, and now it is hovering close to 45%. The company is looking at gaining back a major share and at the same time, making the best in class products.

Maruti Suzuki is the first company to introduce AMT (automated manual transmission) in India. This is an affordable version of the two pedal technology. This makes it a lot more convenient to drive in traffic, without the stress of changing gears. The company has even introduced SHVS (Smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki). This is another technology, which has the start stop function. This is a soft hybrid technology, which helps to improve the mileage of the car.
