Mahindra Bolero Power+ (Plus) Review

One the best sellers ever, the Mahindra Bolero has been topping the charts for a long time.  Now the company has introduced a new version of this SUV called the Bolero Power+. It is not all new, but it gets many changes to make it more appealing and affordable to buyers. There is a change in dimensions, engines but the features remain the same. So, what is the Mahindra Bolero Power+ all about? We share our detailed review on this new SUV.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Design

The Mahindra Bolero Power+ looks the same like the other Boleros. Largely, there is no change. However, the change isn’t visible that easily. The original length of the Bolero was 4.1 metres, and only it is 3.99 metres. This length has been reduced from the bumpers and the bonnet area. This is what makes it look different from the regular Bolero Power+. If you park the old and new Boleros close by, that is when you can notice the difference. In styling, there isn’t a major difference. The new version continues with the same styling that Bolero had got in 2011.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Interior

Mahindra Bolero Power+ has several features, but nothing new as such. It has power steering, power windows, manual AC, music system, keyless entry, in-dash music system. There is even bluetooth connectivity as well. The instrument cluster is digital on the Bolero and the higher variants get micro hybrid technology too. The Mahindra Bolero Power+ even gets stylish interiors.

In terms of space, there is no change on the Mahindra Bolero Power+. It has seven seats, the second row is tight on knee room and the third row is good only for short distances as it gets jump seats. The boot too isn’t that large. What makes this a good deal is the fact that it now without any compromise on space or power, the Mahindra Bolero Power+ is more affordable.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Engine

Mahindra Bolero Power+ isn’t using the 2.5-litre diesel engine. This means it won’t get the diesel ban again. Also, the new engine is 1.5-litre diesel. So, it even gets an excise benefit. Isn’t this engine too small? No, the engine has lesser displacement, but it has more power and torque than the 2.5-litre engine that has been discontinued. So, there is no compromise on performance and drivability. The smaller engine means better fuel efficiency also. This makes it a great engine to consider. So, the Bolero Power+ isn’t just better in power but even is more efficient. The smaller engine size makes it more affordable and lighter too.

The micro hybrid technology further enhances the fuel efficiency on the SUV. This is the third Mahindra SUV that is now compact.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Mileage

In the real world, the SUV will have an efficiency of about 12 km/l in the city and close to 14 km/l on the highway. This is good enough for Bolero. In fact this is better than before.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Colours

This compact SUV is made available in four colours. These are Mist Silver, Rocky Beige, Diamond White and Java Brown. These are the only colour options. With a good demand for Silver and White, Mahindra will focus on continuing with these colours majorly. The new Diamond White is the launch and communication colour for this compact SUV.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ Variants

This new compact SUV is offered with SLE, SLX and ZLX variants. The ZLX is the top-of-the-line version. Mahindra has to clarify if the older Bolero will be sold. The new Bolero’s aggressive pricing makes it a good option to consider. The ZLX is the best variant to pick. The company is offering the best set of features on this SUV variant.
