There are many highly capable and strong products that are under rated today. Most of the chunk has been taken by other cars and some good products are just a clear miss. There are some brands that aren’t doing that well, but their product line-up is strong. It is just that, we reckon these are some exciting products that can do well in their genre, but has failed due to multiple reasons. Some of these vehicles can challenge the best-seller in its segment too.
For some it doesn’t look good, for some it is appealing. Launched under the Nexa umbrella, the Ignis is a good product to live with. Especially if you need a vehicle in the city. It is compact, has premium paint quality and it does stand out in the crowd. Many teenagers have liked the design and for us it looked spectacular in silver colour with the cool black alloy wheels. The interiors are stylish and it has good enough space inside to sit and even for the luggage. The engines are peppy and offer good performance and mileage. The compact dimensions make it a good city car. We reckon its a great product to have on you. You will like the practicality considering its dimensions.
A stylish tall boy hatchback, which isn’t the best bet but a good option in the market. Today, Alto is the best seller, while the Kwid and redi-Go miss out on the reach. The Kwid still has good numbers but the redi-Go doesn’t have too many numbers to support. This is an exciting product, with a good value for money, if you cannot afford the Kwid RxT. Datsun introduced the 1.0-litre engine and soon it will even offer the AMT on this engine. Maybe the touchscreen pull factor goes missing on this Datsun vehicle. Else it is a good offering in the market.
Mahindra KUV100 NXT
Since the introduction of the NXT version, the KUV seems a lot better package, especially the diesel engine. Design is subjective, but still it feels like an SUV with the high seating. There are more than sufficient features on offer and the interior quality has seen an improvement too. There is adequate space and more than sufficient storage spaces too. The new vehicle has soft clutch which makes driving a breeze. The new touchscreen infotainment system also has good performance. This is what makes it an appealing package. There is more sufficient comfort, features and even power. The price at which it comes, is just good enough for a vehicle of this size.
This vehicle doesn’t offer the best features in its segment, but it does offer an amazing car if you are looking at a petrol automatic. This powertrain is super smooth, the engine is peppy and the drive is just effortless. There are a lot of features too, it push start stop, keyless entry, climate control, but it just misses out on the touchscreen and the reverse camera bit. These are today offered on all the cars in this segment. Plus, it is an old vehicle and what Nissan needs is to get the new-generation. But in function, it is one of our favourite choices for petrol automatic.
Yes, this is expensive than the Elite i20 and the Baleno. But it does offer a lot more space and practicality. If you need car that is spacious, you need not go for an SUV, unless you need the ground clearance too. Where the Jazz lacks is its features and the price. We reckon that will be better with the facelift version. There will be more features on offer and maybe the magic seats could be gone for the Indian market. Honda will be reviving the Jazz with some additional features and this will be a good option to consider then.
