We buy premium hatchbacks because they look trendy. They are feature loaded. These are the two major reasons why we procure these cars. Honda’s Jazz being one of the first premium hatch for India, the company has got the new-generation in India. As a matter of time, the company is celebrating the first year of the new hatchback for India.

The new Jazz is stylish and trendy. At the same time, it offers a good number of features too. But a Jazz buyer, will look at his/her car in a different manner. The Jazz is a highly practical car, and this makes it stand out in the crowd of premium hatchbacks.

A hatchback that can fit in a cycle in its boot. A hatchback, which has space to keep your tree pots. You can play with those magic seats to make it a bed for one. Small details that make it look like a big car.  Somewhere in the running of life, we forget things. We forget being ourselves. We all buy bigger cars to carry luggage or to take the bicycle. But we never take out the time for ourselves. We also as auto pundits look at premium hatchbacks and rate them on performance, mileage and cost.

Honda Jazz is celebrating its first anniversary in India, and we were there to join the Honda party. To freshen our memory on the Honda Jazz, we didn’t just drive the Jazz. We had to fit in two plants, one cycle and make a bed in the Jazz by altering the seats. Seats had to be adjusted, things had to be put in and then removed out for the next prop to fit in.  All this had to be done by a team of three people. One of the teams did all the three tasks in 45 seconds. This was possible due to the Magic Seats, which is available only on the range topping variant of the Jazz – VX.

Then we managed to fit two large boxes and two mid-size bags in the Jazz boot, without much of a fuss. This was done by removing the parcel tray. The ease of access to the Jazz boot with the low loading lip makes it a lot more convenient. These are some of the important aspects of the Jazz that make it stand out amongst the competition.

But then it is equally important that the car is easy to drive. One shouldn’t be stuck shifting gears often be it in busy streets, or in city traffic and even on the highway. We went on a treasure hunt about 50kms away from Jaipur into the old city. This was a drive through the highways, then super busy and broken roads of old Jaipur and then Jaipur city. Driving all throughout was a breeze.

As there has been an increase in sales for the petrol Jazz, we are reckon it is a good option to consider. A spacious hatchback, with good all round visibility.

Honda Jazz comes fitted with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, which is the pre-dominant seller.
