Datsun Redi Go vs Renault Kwid comparison is one of the hottest comparison. Renault’s Kwid is one of the revolutionary story in the country. The first car that could challenge the Maruti Alto. The Redi Go is another hatchback based on the same hatchback. We are the first to do a detailed comparison of the two.

Datsun Redi Go vs Renault Kwid Price

The Datsun Redi Go is more affordable than the Kwid. The Datsun is priced at INR 2.8 lakhs to INR 3.8 lakhs (on-road). The Kwid on the other hand is priced at INR 3.08 lakhs to INR 4.21 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

Redi Go retains similar design to the concept shown in 2014 Auto Expo. The large front grille with pulled back headlamps looks stylish. The side profile shows the tall boy looks of the hatch.

The Redi Go has 13-inch wheels too. The Redi Go’s length is shorter than the Kwid. The rear of the Redi Go looks stylish.

In the Kwid, the SUV inspired design is evident and the front portion is good looking with the bold grille housing a large Renault logo between the stylish headlamps and looks distinguishing. The sides have rectangular shaped wheel arches with black cladding. The Kwid has more boxier looks than the Redi Go.

Though being built on the same platform, the Redi Go looks more attractive of the two, externally and also more premium.

Redi Go’s interior is all new. It gets an all new instrument cluster. The instrument cluster has been borrowed from other Datsuns. Then a new music system has been fitted. The RediGo has a higher seating position than the Kwid. The second row space isn’t much different on the Redi Go. The boot though is a small boot at 222 litres.

The Kwid interiors feel more solidly built then the Redigo, sharing the same bold look philosophy as its exterior. The design has been kept simple with minimal lines that make the dashboard look bigger and wider. It has a fully digital instrument console and also a gear indicator. The centre console has a seven-inch touchscreen with navigation, and bluetooth too. The chunky steering wheel can be adjusted for rake and reach as well. The boot of the Kwid is larger at 300 litres.

Datsun Redi Go vs Renault Kwid Engine

The Datsun Redi Go and Renault Kwid shar the same engine which a 800cc, three-cylinder unit. This engine delivers 52bhp of power and 72Nm of torque. Hoever, the behavior of this engine is a little different in both cars. The Redi Go being slightly lighter than Kwid, registers better acceleration time from 0-100, however in real world driving, there is not much of a difference. The engine gets noisy at higher revs in both cars.

The Redi Go and Kwid share the same suspension set up but it has been tuned differently in both cars. The RediGo has a higher ground clearance at 185mm so the set up is a bit stiff.

At low speeds one can feel the road undulations, when the road gets bad. The handling of the RediGo is fine for city conditions and it has good all round visibility too. The steering feedback however is very average. The Kwid, on the contrary offers better ride quality than the Redi Go and it has a slightly softer suspension setup. The handling and steering feedback is also better the the Datsun Redi Go. The Kwid has a ground clearance of 180mm.

Datsun Redi Go vs Renault Kwid Mileage

The ARAI mileage figures for Renault Kwid is 25.17 km/l. The mileage for the Datsun Redi Go is also the same which is 25.17 km/l. In real world driving, both cars should return around 15 km/l in the city and 20 km/l on the highway.

Verdict

The Datsun Redi Go prices aren’t out yet, but the RediGo will be more affordable than the Kwid. The Kwid is a lot more feature loaded and spacious too. If there is a 10% difference in the price of the lower models, the Kwid will attract family car buyers, while the Datsun RediGo will be made for the youth.

The duo are our preferred choice over the Alto 800 facelift that is coming in this month.
