Chevrolet Spin to be launched by end of 2016

General Motors will be introducing a new MPV in the Indian market called the Chevrolet Spin. This will be a compact MPV, which will replace the Chevrolet Enjoy. The Spin is a more premium offering as compared to the Enjoy.

Modern MPVs are offering all the bells and whistles that customers demand from premium cars. The Chevrolet Spin will aim at luring customers who want a slightly premium looking people mover at a reasonable price.

The practicality, space and efficiency of MPVs are something that has got buyers interested in this segment The MPV market in india is currently slow, but the demand is expected to grow in the near future.

Modern MPVs are offering all the bells and whistles that customers demand from premium cars. Chevrolet currently has the Enjoy and Tavera in this segment. While the Tavera is targeted as a rugged semi-urban / rural transport vehicle, the Enjoy is more of a urban MPV. The Chevrolet Spin will take over from the Enjoy and will be step-up for the company in this space.

Chevrolet Spin Design

The Chevrolet Spin MPV has been designed in Brazil. It shares its platform with the Beat hatchback.  The Spin has a muscular styling all over which is likely to appeal to many buyers. The sleek headlights on the front look elegant with the traditional bow tie front Chevrolet logo. The front of the MPV is a typical Chevrolet one. The side profile gets slightly flared wheel arches with a high belt line and smooth silhouette that makes it look large too. The sleek design and a sloping profile helps in maintaining straight line stability and also offer higher efficiency. The Chevrolet Spin is aimed at a wider audience and it has certain traits of an SUV in its styling.

The interiors of the Chevrolet Spin have also got an upmarket feel. The dashboard has a neat layout with a smooth flow and is dual tone in colour. The centre portion houses the audio system which has bluetooth, USB and Aux.

The instrument cluster has an Analogue speedometer and besides it is the multi information display which gives out vehicular information. The three-spoke steering wheel looks good. The main highlight is the multi-configurable seating position, which makes it a comfortable and practical option. It has a seating capacity for seven occupants and with the last row of seat folded, the luggage capacity can go upto 864 litres. This can be extended to 1608 litres when the second row seats are also folded. There are lot of storage space inside the vehicle too.

Chevrolet Spin Engine

The Chevrolet Spin in India will get the FIAT sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine, which will make 75bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. There won’t be a petrol engine on offer initially and even no automatic either.

The Chevrolet Spin will challenge established players like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Honda BR-V and also the Renault Lodgy.
