Competition

The 2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift will be competing with the Hyundai Creta, Honda BR-V and the Renault Duster. Thought the Scorpio is in its own league, price-wise it will match these SUVs. While the Scorpio is built on a ladder-frame chassis, its competitors are based on a monocoque chassis. There will be the Nissan Kicks SUV and the Renault Kaptur also that will be competing with the new Mahindra Scorpio, at a slightly higher price point though. The Scorpio is more suited for upcountry usage than the rest. There is also a 4WD option available.

New 2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift Engine

2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift gear

The 2018 Scorpio will get the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. A 2.2-litre petrol engine will also make it into this SUV this time. Though this engine is available only for exports now, it will be sold wherever there is demand. The Mahindra Scorpio will get a new six-speed automatic as well. This will be on the diesel engine. The Intelli-hybrid system will also be seen on the 2018 edition. The electricals keep running even when the vehicle engine is shut at traffic signals. This is where the intelli-hybrid is a a boon. The Scorpio will also get regenerative braking. The Scorpio will aim at offering a better fuel efficiency this time.

Mahindra Scorpio Automatic (16)

The diesel engine will have no change in performance and will produce 140bhp of power. It will come with a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. A new AISIN automatic transmission will be seen on the new Scorpio. This will be similar to the one found on the XUV500, but will be suited for a rear-wheel drive mechanism, that the Scorpio has. The petrol on the other hand will churn about 156bhp of power. Expect the micro-hybrid technology to see some more advancement and helpful in better fuel economy.

Design

The Scorpio will get minor changes to the exteriors. There will not be many changes but a set of new headlamps will be seen. Apart from that, there will be a new front grille, similar to that of the XUV500. The ORVMs will get turn indicators. A new alloy wheel design will be seen here. These alloy wheels will look more sporty than the existing ones. The rear will see a minor change, with some changes in the design of the tail lamp. Mahindra had made changes to the design of the rear part of the Scorpio in the first few months itself. The enhanced styling will make the Scorpio look more attractive.

  • Scorpio mai A.C.ka problem hamesa se hai thik kare

  • With the increase in taxes, it isn’t possible. The engine is bigger than 1.5-litre and is longer than 4 metres, so extra taxes for that.

  • Scorpio had some aerodynamicity and cuteness in its earlier design but now the front portion has become more boxy and flat …has become less attractive and more like TATA SUMO……Cosmetic changes wont be of much help for such a high price….the thing will sell only if they can come down from 8 to 12 lakhs…else not a good buy for such a high price…
