If you are looking at buying an SUV and you need an automatic. We have zeroed down the five of them for you. Some are diesels, some petrol, some are proper automatics, while some are AMTs. Majority of them are compact SUVs or AMTs that are offered in this segment.

  1. Ford Ecosport

This is the only petrol and dual-clutch automatic (if not the single clutch) that is available on a compact SUV. This compact SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine that churns about 108bhp of power and comes with a six-speed dual clutch transmission.  This is offered with two trim levels.

2. Renault Duster:

Renault had recently introduced the facelift version of the Duster. This SUV now comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns about 108bhp of power and also is available with a six-speed AMT as well. This is the only vehicle in its segment to offer an AMT. This is offered as the top of the line variant.

3. Hyundai Creta:

Hyundai is the only automaker to offer a fully automatic with a diesel engine on an SUV in this price point. The Creta comes with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 125bhp of power and has a six-speed automatic transmission.

Sadly, it isn’t available with the top of the line variant.

4. Mahindra TUV300

5. Mahindra Nuvosport:

The latest entrant in this segment. The Nuvosport is a highly refined SUV that will be sold with a 1.5-litre Hawk engine, but it will be producing 100bhp instead of 80bhp like the TUV300.
