Ford recently launched its all new Endeavour to the Indian market to fight back with the likes of its rivals, the Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet’s new Trailblazer. Ford has ensured that the Endeavour is fitted with all the necessary kit and more to set new benchmarks in its segment. Starting from around INR 29.50 lakhs on road Mumbai, it will be interesting to see how its fares against the competition.

Endeavour vs Fortuner.

Unlike the Toyota Fortuner which is only a facelift, the Endeavour is completely all new. Ford has not carried forward anything from its previous generation.

Like the Fortuner, the Endeavour can seat seven passengers and is only available in diesel powered options with two engine options in store. There is the standard 2.2-litre four cylinder engine versions and there is the 3.2-litre five cylinder engine. Compared to Toyota’s 2.5-litre engine, the four cylinder version of the Endeavour produces 18bhp more while the bigger five cylinder engine produces 20bhp more than Toyota’s 3.0-litre four cylinder engine.

On the feature list, Ford’s new Endeavour does not disappoint. The top end variant also comes with a full size panoramic sunroof and electrical folding seats. This does not mean that the base version is devoid of any convenience features.

The base version also is fitted standard with electronic closing tailgate and a touch screen infotainment system just to name a few. The Endeavour being larger in size sports a larger cabin as well which was a big drawback with Toyota’s Fortuner. Even with Toyota’s bullet proof reliability its short comings with relation to features cannot be ignored. The new Ford Endeavour is here to stay and also considering the price, we pick it over the Fortuner any day.

Endeavour vs Trailblazer

Chevrolet recently launched their all new Trailblazer to the Indian market. Although it is all new it starts its defence on the back foot as it is available in only one variant which is only a 2WD. It is powered by a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 198bhp and 500Nm of torque that is more powerful on paper that the bigger five cylinder engine of the Endeavour. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic gearbox. Both cars come standard fitted with the entire safety features par at the segment. That being said, like the Fortuner, the Trailblazer cannot compete with all the features that come with the Endeavour.  This is because all the necessary creature comforts like electronic driver’s seat adjustment, touch screen audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, rear park assist with camera, cruise control, follow me home lights, side step, split folding seats, leather seats are all available as standard. But misses out on the electrically folding seats, electronically folding tail gate, panoramic sunroof and more. These come as a standard offering on the Endeavour.

With prices starting from INR 27 lakh (on-road Mumbai), it faces direct competition with its rivals who are also priced around the same mark. The omission of the 4WD version and only one variant available which is not as well equipped, we feel the Endeavour is a much better bet.
