2017 Toyota Prius launched in India at INR 42.6 lakhs (on-road)

The 2017 Toyota Prius has been launched by Toyota Kirloskar Motor for for INR 42.8 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). The Toyota Prius is the most popular hybrid car around the world. It is also the company’s most successful hybrid vehicle ever. It had made its debut in India a few years back. This time, Toyota has the latest version of this eco friendly car. This is the company’s most successful hybrid vehicle ever. Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Prius had earlier been launched globally in its new avatar. This time it comes to India to woo Indian customers.

 2017 Toyota Prius Design

The new Toyota Prius looks sporty, aggressive and mean. This is a lot different from its predecessor as it has new styling, appealing design, something the Prius was never known for.

The 2017 Toyota Prius is the company’s first car which is underpinned by the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) modular platform. The new Prius is expected to attract more young buyers. This Toyota Prius is more about style, design and performance.

At the same time even better efficiency and lower carbon emissions.

It also gets LED headlamps, LED fog lamps with daytime running lights. There are 15-inch alloy wheels on this new car. The 2017 Toyota Prius measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.

The 2017  Prius has clean interior. However, it looks pretty classy from inside. It also is quite futuristic. The instrument cluster is seen in the centre. In terms of features, the 2017 Toyota Prius gets a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system with DVD, USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth. The audio system is a 10-speaker JBL one. There is also wireless charging available.

It also gets leather seats, chrome door handles, dual-zone automatic climate control, front heated seats, are the key interior features of the car. There is no Navigation available and also Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are absent. This may not go down well with customers looking to buy this car.

2017 Toyota Prius Engine

The new 1.8-litre has been made from a clean sheet of paper. The electric motor gets more compact and also more efficient. Its hybrid powertrain is a BS IV-compliant 2ZR-FXE 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 96bhp of power at 5,200 rpm and 142Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm . The electric motor generates 71bhp of power And 163Nm of torque. This electric motor is powered by a 6.5 Ah nickel-metal hydride battery. The petrol engine and electric motor together develop an output of 120bhp. This combination engine is mated to a CVT, which dives the wheels. There are two modes for driving – Drive (Normal, Eco and Power) and EV.

The 2017 Prius is a full-hybrid compact sedan and has a fuel economy rating of 26.27 km/l. Apart from high fuel efficiency, the 2017 Toyota Prius is also a highly eco friendly car with very low emissions.
