Discovery Sport has been launched at INR 50.7 lakhs (on-road) in India. This is an all-new product launch from Land Rover India after a span of more than a year’s time. The last all-new model that was launched was the Range Rover Sport. The new Discovery Sport will be replacing the Freelander2. There’s also a Three-Year Standard Service Pack with the new Discovery Sport

The Discovery Sport is based on an all-new platform and is the newest member of the Discovery family. JLR India will be introducing the Discovery Sport with three engine options, one will be the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol that will produce about 240bhp of power and 2.2-litre diesel engine that will be churning out 148bhp of power and the second state of tune will be 188bhp. These all will come mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission. For India, the 2.0-litre diesel won’t be making its way anytime soon. Maybe next year is when we can expect.

The new Discovery Sport will be competing with the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class (currently called as ML-Class), BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. There is also the Volvo XC60, which is a competitor for the Discovery Sport. This will be made available in two types, one will be a five-seater and the second will be a 5+2.
