In terms of specifications, the Maruti Ciaz comes with a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options. Petrol comes mated to a five-speed manual and CVT options, while diesel is driven by a five-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine has enough grunt and performs well in the city and on the highway. It comes with good driveability and one doesnt need to shoft gears frequently. The diesel is the same seen on other Maruti cars. The diesel engine is refined though. The petrol engine though is the better one in terms of overall performance.

Both these engines come with a six-speed manual and automatic transmission option. We haven’t driven the new petrol, but the diesel has amazing power. To begin with, there is more than sufficient grunt to drive in comfort and even to overtake. At the same time, there is no engine noise in the diesel engine. What else do we expect? Good performance even at low engine speeds. This makes it a good engine to consider.
