The Indian two-wheeler maker is looking at raising the bar and introducing commuter and performance bikes. The XF3R will be the largest offering in the Hero portfolio. So, how good is the bike? We share our detailed preview.

Hero XF3R Design

Showcased as a  “Design Concept Vehicle” the Hero XF3R has aggressive as well as sporty looks. The headlamp is a typical street fighter design, all wheels have a mesh-type design with Pirelli Sport Demon tyres. It also gets a short handlebar and inverted USD forks. The fuel tank has shrouds that have incorporated turn indicators and air intakes. The exhaust system is placed below the pillion seat. This is a twin-port exhaust system. The rear portion sees the bike with LED tail-lamps and integrated turn indicators. The silver colour with black and red accents add to the overall appeal of the XF3R. The bike looks brilliant in flesh and now we have to wait and watch how much of the original design will Hero maintain on the XF3R. This will be the company’s first 300cc bike and Hero will be introducing it after the 250cc and then 200cc.

Hero XF3R Engine

The engine is a 300cc one. This engine will be an indigenously built unit. The power of the bike is expected to be in the range of 35bhp.  This engine will be mated to a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. The bike is supported by a steel trellis frame and it will be high on performance. The powertrain has a Dual Map technology mode and also fuel injection system. The XF3R, with upside down telescopic forks and a single-sided monoshock and swingarm suspension, will offer a good balance of ride and handling, on different terrains. Hero is looking at entering the 200cc, 250cc and 300cc segment with all new engines. These engines are performance oriented and will have the best power in its segment.

At the same time, the company isn’t compromising on the fuel-efficiency factor. Hero’s new R&D head is from BMW and one of the priorities for the company is to improve the riding characteristics of the bike. This will make a joy to ride such a bike and Hero will not want to make any kind of compromise on this. This will add more value to the bike and even enthusiasts will prefer a Hero over other bikes in this segment. As this will be locally made, the cost of the bike will be lower than competition.
