2018 BMW 3 Series Release Date, Price (G20) 

BMW is now ready to get its best-seller in its new avatar. The new-generation 3 series is being tested and this one will be longer, wider and bigger than the current one. As the competition has done the same, the Munich-based automaker seems to be taking the same approach. We tell you in detail about the new 3.

2018 BMW 3 Series Design

The 3 Series design has been conservative. It was only on the last generation that we could see a major difference in design. Else, it was almost the same for many years. We expect the new 3 Series to be radical in design. This one is likely to be similar to the outgoing version, however it will be a lot more stylish. BMW’s idea to make the 3 a fun car more than a uber stylish looking sedan. Nevertheless, the shark fin can be seen to be a part of the design as seen in the spy shots. The dimensions of the new 3 have increased considering the size of the competition.

The other reason why the 3 Series will grow is to make space for the 1 Series sedan. This will be competing with the Mercedes CLA and the Audi A3. The compact sedan market seems to be popular amongst the youth and this will even differentiate the two sedans as well.

2018 BMW 3 Series Interior

The dashboard seems to similar in design. There won’t be a major change in styling of the interiors. Expect some additional features on the iDrive and then maybe gesture controls too. Where the 3 Series will be different shall be the cabin space. As the new one is bigger, there will be more room in both the rows. The 3 Series will be a lot more comfortable making it more convenient for four to travel. The display resolution shall be higher and this will work out in its favour.

2018 BMW 3 Series Platform

The new 3 Series underpinnings is much lighter and dynamic. As this is shared with the new 5 and the 7, it is made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic.

2018 BMW 3 Series Engine

The new 3 will continue to use the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and diesel engines. The US market will continue to have the petrol engine and six-cylinder ones. As the new chassis is lighter, Europe will get the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesels too. The 330i version is one of our favourites. If we consider the M3, then there will be a 500bhp version too. This will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

2018 BMW 3 Series Competition

The new 3 Series will compete with the Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. This will be same size as the 3 Series competition.
