There is even the Tata Zest facelift in the making, and the company is looking at getting the AMT version on the petrol engine as well. The Zest petrol is currently available with a five-speed manual, soon it will be getting an AMT on the petrol too. As there has been a switch to petrol cars in the compact car segment, Tata will be getting AMT. This will be a five-speed AMT that will be manufactured Magneti-Marelli. The Zest facelift will get this mechanical upgrade. This will give Zest buyers another option, especially if they are looking at having clutch-free driving.

The Tata Zest has had a mixed reaction in terms of looks. Some have liked it a lot and some haven’t so much. The Zest facelift will get an enhanced exteriors that will look more premium to the existing model. The new Impact design language will now be used on the Zest which will make it look more contemporary. The recently launched Tata Tiago is based on the Impact design language. The Zest facelift will be getting a new front fascia and the rear will also be updated. There will be no change in the dimensions though, which will continue to remain the same. It is only the design which will see an upgrade. With an upgraded styling and premium looks, the Zest will help in garnering better volumes for the car.

On the inside, the Zest will get quite a few updates. It will get additional features that will make it even better value for money. Some of these new features will be keyless entry, push button start, reverse parking camera, a new navigation system. It is also likely to get dual airbags as a standard feature across all the variants or maybe even optional. The interiors will get better quality fit and finish, on the lines of the Tiago. Even new seat fabrics and soft touch plastics will adorn the Zest facelift, which now needs an upgrade. The Zest will aim at being a better value proposition. Though it is early to comment, most of these add-ons will feature on the Zest facelift.

No change in the engines of the Zest. It will come with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that will produce about 90bhp of power and will have a five-speed manual transmission. This engine will come with multi-drive modes (City, performance and economy). The Zest facelift will also see an AMT in the petrol version. Lately, the swing towards towards The Zest diesel will come with a 1.3-litre multijet engine that will have two states of tune. The lower variants will have 75bhp, while the higher variants will get 90bhp of power. The Tata Zest will continue to offer AMT on the diesel engine and this time it will also get a ‘creep’ feature, as seen in the Nano. The Zest facelift’s mechanicals will remain similar if not the same. The engines will get tuned to offer better fuel economy.

Zest facelift’s petrol engine will have an efficiency of about 11km/l in the city, while on the highway it will be about 14km/l. The Zest facelift diesel will be returning about 14km/l in the city, and about 18km/l on the highway. The mileage figures of Manual and AMT versions will be the same.
