The Tata Kite 5 is all new compact sedan that Tata will be launching soon. This new compact sedan is  based on the Tiago platform. The Tata Kite 5 will boast a lot of new features for this segment. The Kite 5 will compete in the fierce compact sedan segment. At the moment, Kite 5 is just a codename for this sedan, the production name is likely to be Viago or Altigo. Based on the Tiago platform, the Tata Kite 5 is one of the most stylish looking compact sedans around. With a fastback, it looks sporty and a lot more appealing than all its competitors. The front of the Tata Kite 5 is the same like the Tiago however it looks a lot more appealing. The door pillar at the centre (B-pillar) is blacked out. Expect the roof colour to be a contrasting colour. The design is similar to the C-pillar. Post that, there is the new sloping roof, which gives it a sport look. This is the most coolest looking compact sedan.

What makes the Tata Kite 5 stand out is the way it will be positioned. It will be more sporty that premium, as compared to other compact sedans. The fastback kind of styling and the contrast roof colour makes it look premium. There is neatly integrated spoiler at the rear and a high mount brake lamp.

Tata Kite 5 Interiors

The interiors will be same as the Tiago. All black interiors will mark the difference, while the Tiago has a two tone one . The Tata Kite 5 has the same signature three spoke steering wheel with controls for music and voice command. The Tata Kite 5 has a new instrument cluster with driver information system as well. This displays average speed, distance to empty, fuel efficiency and instant fuel efficiency as well.

The Tata Kite 5 comes with an integrated music system on the top-of-the-line variant. This has an Harman music system with bluetooth connectivity, USB and even aux. It plays music through eight speakers. The five-inch screen has reverse parking display, SMS display and readout, step-by-step navigation for Android phones and Juke-car app. This app allows to connect multiple smartphones to the music system at the same time. There is even JukeCar app that has been built only for Tata vehicles. The touchscreen system will be there and this will even get reverse parking camera. The Tata Kite 5 will even have Harman speakers too. There will even be climate control, which isn’t offered on the Tiago. The rear seat on the Tata Kite 5 has centre armrest too.

The Tata Kite 5 will have good interior space. The headroom and legroom will be one of the best in class.

 There is no rear AC vent but the Kite 5 will have a powerful Air-con, just like the Tiago. It has a boot size in excess of 430 litres. Now this is as much as a fully grown sedan! This compact sedan has stylish interiors. With regards to storage it has cupholders at the centre, 500ml bottle holder in the door pockets and a lot more storage places on the inside.

The air-vent colours could be customised as well. The panel that surrounds the AC vents and the centre console can be interchanged with any colour option the buyer picks. The body colour of the Kite 5 could be chosen.

Tata Kite 5 Engine

Kite 5 will be coming with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.05-litre diesel engine. Both these engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Expect the diesel to get an AMT too. The Kite 5 has the same engines like that of the Tiago. The Kite 5 is based on the same platform and the same engines too. There won’t be a major difference in the power rating of the Kite 5 and the Tiago.

The Tata Kite 5 has an electronically assisted power steering. This makes it a lot easier to drive in city, as the light weight is convenient. The feedback from this steering wheel is and that makes it another point for advantage. The suspension set-up is the same like the Tiago. The fuel tank capacity of the Tata Kite 5 is 35 litres, which will be sufficient for long road trips as well. The ride quality of this vehicle is good and what stands is its handling. It is a good mix of ride quality and handling characteristics. The ABS on offer comes with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), corner stability control (CSC) for enhanced braking efficiency.

Tata Kite 5’s petrol engine should return about 12km/l in the city, while on the highway it will be about 16km/l. The diesel engine on the other hand will have an efficiency of about 17km/l in the city, while on the highway it should be about 20km/l.

Tata Kite 5 Colours

The Tata Kite 5 is expected to be made available in white, silver, black and three more trendy colours as well. However, there will be some Tata Kite 5 variants that will come with dual colour option. With the roof getting a different colour to make it look sporty. Tata Kite 5 is likely to be priced somewhere in between INR 4.5 lakhs to INR 7 lakhs (on-road price). The Kite 5 will be priced less than the Zest and even the Bolt. This will be a segment that will be targeted with the Tata Kite 5.

Tata Kite 5 will be competing with the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Hyundai XCent, Chevrolet Essentia, Honda Amaze facelift and the Ford Figo Aspire. The Tata Zest will be another competition product as well.

However, the Zest will be a tad more expensive than the Kite 5.

The Tata Kite 5 will be priced at INR 4.5 lakhs to INR 7 lakhs (on-road). This is expected to be the pricing of the new sedan. The increase in the pricing should be about INR 50,000-60,000 over the Tiago. It doesn’t just get a boot but some additional features too.
