Maruti Suzuki will be introducing the YBA, its new compact SUV , however it will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will churn about 105bhp of power and it will be made available with a five-speed manual and an automatic transmission as well. The chances of getting the 1.2-litre petrol engine on the YBA are very less.

Maruti Suzuki is looking at adding an automatic option to the compact SUV portfolio as this will be a direct competition to the Ford Ecosport.

Ford is offering an automatic transmission on the Ecosport petrol and Maruti will not want to miss out on this segment.

Maruti won’t be launching the YBA with a 1.2-litre engine as it will be underpowered for its size.

The YBA is coming with a new-range of petrol engines, the diesel will be the 1.3-litre 90bhp multisite itself.

Vitara Brezza interior

This was the reason why Maruti didn’t use the 90bhp on the Baleno, so it could differentiate the power between the Baleno and the YBA. The YBA, likely to be called as Vitara Brezza will be launched in the Indian car market sometime early next year. There won’t be an AMT (automated manual transmission) from what it seems to, as Maruti will be looking at getting a CVT (continously variable transmission) on the petrol.

The pricing of the YBA will be about INR 8.5 lakhs to 12 lakhs and it will be a five-seater only. This new YBA will coming with features like keyless entry, push start and stop, reverse parking camera and even touchscreen system with navigation and multiple airbags.
