Fiat’s Qubo and Doblo have been spotted on test in India itself. These vehicles are based on the Punto’s hybrid platform itself, so maybe just maybe, the Italian automaker is contemplating or just testing them in India.

The initial plan of getting the X3U platform, which has a hatchback, sedan and an SUV has been scrapped. Now, a new hybrid platform is being developed for developing markets that will get features like European cars and will be built for road conditions like ours.

The plans are still in the making and it is a bit too early to come to a conclusion.

However it is true that the Fiat brand is experimenting and testing several new cars in different segments to understand, which could be the ideal range of products for the Indian car market. The Qubo and the Doblo both are running on the Multijet engine and these could be a good range of MPVs to be introduced under the compact segment.

Though it is too early to say which all products are coming, the new platform will churn out a sedan, hatchback and a compact SUV.
