The world premiere of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has taken place at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The Ignis, which is a compact crossover car, based on the iM-4 concept, was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, earlier this year.

The Ignis closely resembles the concept car in its styling.

The large headlamps integrated with the front grille, an SUV-like bonnet and blackened A and B pillars.

It has flared up wheel arches and bold 18-inch alloy wheels. It also gets projector headlamps.

In Europe, the Ignis will be a direct competition to the Fiat Panda 4×4 and it will be powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol and 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engines. It will be manufactured and exported to Europe from the Maruti’s plant in India. Maruti will be launching it in India sometime in 2016. This will be followed by tests in India with some tweaking to product to meet the Indian conditions. The car will also feature the SHVS or Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki, recently seen in the Maruti Ciaz and Ertiga. In Europe, this will alsofeature Suzuki’s AWD system.

Apart from the Ignis, the India-made Baleno is also showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show.
