When Datsun brand was announced that the new brand will have a compact sedan as a part of its Indian portfolio. However, the three products that were planned from the Datsun range included hatchback, compact MUV and SUV.

Now, it seems that plans are being chalked out of a new compact sedan to come for the Datsun brand too. This will be based on the CMF-A platform and a lot of things are already in place for this.

Renault and Datsun both will be sharing the CMF platform and Renault has already announced that it is in the works for a compact sedan too. Datsun has also taken a similar route and could be introducing a compact sedan mostly by 2017.

Expect the brand to showcase this and other new concepts at the 2014 Auto Expo, however the new CMF-A based crossover will be the one that shall be the fourth Datsun product.

The Datsun range is expanding and the brand has been performing with some decent numbers. Datsun’s strategy was to capture about five percent market share by 2016, which is looking difficult at the moment, while even the parent company Nissan’s five percent market share goal won’t be achieved.

The Japanese automaker has delayed some of the launches for stock clearance and they are offering some goodies on their portfolio.
