Yamaha India recently decided to make sure that before the BS6 deadline is met way in advance for its motorcycles and scooters. Among them were the MT15 and the R15 V3 2.0. Now both of them use the same engine and are based on the same platform. One has the styling of a naked street bike and the other is a faired sports tourer.

Now to complete the trilogy there is the XSR155. A bike that shares its heart and platform with these two should surely make it to India. Read further below to find out why and more about the XR155.

What is it?

The XSR155, if it comes to India, will be a second offering from the Japanese in the neo-retro looks department.

The bike gets a classic round headlight with LED lamps and DRLs. A single large leather seat shows off its classic looks. The bike, unlike the R15 and MT15, will get dual-purpose tires that will make up for riding this bike off the beaten path. The drip shaped tank and high set handlebars make for an inviting and comfortable riding position. The Yamaha XSR155 sits on a Deltabox frame with inverted telescopic front forks and a mono shock at the rear. The bike also gets dual-channel ABS, unlike the MT15. Engine duties will be handled by the familiar 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and will be paired to a six-speed gearbox that comes with a slipper clutch and assist. The tank capacity as of now in the Indonesian market is 10.4-litres which is slightly better than the MT15.
