Soon to be launched Abarth Punto will set a new benchmark with regards to performance hatchbacks in India. We also have information on a new feature that will be offered on the Abarth Punto, which is Bluetooth Audio streaming. This feature is being introduced for the first time in Fiat cars.

The Fiat Punto when launched in 2009 had some first-in-class features like the Blue & Me, which is a voice enabled Bluetooth telephony system, speed-sensing audio volume, steering mounted controls, multi information display in the instrument cluster and Follow-Me-Home headlamps, to name a few.

The competition later kept upgrading their cars over these years and one thing that was sorely missed in the Punto, despite having the Blue & Me, was Bluetooth audio streaming. Today, most Bluetooth enabled cars offer this feature and is also preferred by customers as one can listen to music from the phone directly, without bothering about connecting a USB device or AUX.

This time Fiat has upgraded the system and now one can play music through the phone, which is streamed to the car audio system. This feature works on an A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) that allows for the wireless transmission of stereo audio from a Bluetooth enabled phone to the car audio system. The Abarth Punto will be the first car to include this feature and later this will be added to other products from Fiat as well. But to change tracks, you will have to go back to your phone than use the steering wheel or centre console controls.

The Abarth Punto is slated for a launch on 10th October and will be India’s most powerful hatchback, with a 1.4 litre T-Jet petrol engine delivering 145bhp of power and 212Nm of torque. The hot hatch is claimed to do 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and has a fuel efficiency of 16.3 km/l.
