50 people traveling on a State Transport bus from Lucknow to Delhi were involved in an accident today morning at 5 am. 29 people were killed in the accident that occurred with the bus when it plunged into the gap between a bridge. The Senior Superintendent of Police (Agra) Babloo Kumar confirmed that the Janpath bus coming to Delhi from Lucknow hit the railing near milestone 161 under the Etmadpur police station during the early hours of the morning.

The preliminary examination has revealed that the driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. It hit the 161 markers and then plunged into the river. The U.P. Roadways has announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

Yamuna Expressway or Taj Expressway is a 6-lane (extendable to 8 lanes), 165 km long, access controlled expressway, connecting Greater Noida with Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of India’s longest six-lane controlled-access expressway stretches.
