The price of the car is to early to predict. The price of the regular XUV300 has not been revealed yet. The car will be obviously more expensive than the car with the combustion engine. The XUV300 Electric will be cheaper than the Hyundai Kona for sure. Mahindra will have taken that car into account before making the decision of getting this car to India. The car should be under Rs 25 lakhs (on-road). electric cars do not have a big reach in India and people with the means who can afford an extra car and want to make a statement or want to experience something different would buy them.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Design

The design of the car will be the same as the XUV300. The regular XUV300 takes a lot of inspiration from the Mahindra XUV500. The design will remain the same on the electric variant. The only difference will be that the front engine bay will also have more storage. The interior dashboard layout will be different and there will be more weight-saving materials used in the construction of the car. The dimensions will be the same. The car will be a sub-4 meter car but will have somebody panels that are different and more suited for the electric car. For e.g – the car will have no grille as an electric car does not require any kind of cooling mechanism or radiator for airflow. Thus we will see a revised bumper and hood. The car will have HID headlamps and LED taillights. The tyre design will be completely different too. Mahindra will make sure the tyre’s are eco tyres which have low resistance and have a good life and aid the car in increasing its range.

On the exterior, the car will look the same as its gas-powered. The XUV 300 Electric will have major changes as where it will accommodate the battery. The front won’t require a functional grill as the car won’t have any combustion engine to cool. There will be more use of LED as they are power saving as well as brighter. The price of the vehicle will increase because of this but this car won’t be price centric in any way. Another major change will be in terms of wheel design. To differentiate with the regular XUV300 it will get a different design or at least some colour inserts on the wheel.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Interior

The interior of the car will not change much. Now, this depend on the decision of the Mahindra to place the batteries. The batteries are heavy and usually, car manufatures place them on the floor of the car to maintain the centre of gravity. The car will get the same interiors as the XUV300 AMT. The centre console of the vehicle will see some changes too as there won’t be any gear lever on the floor. For now, there is no confirmation of the on the interiors of the car for the electric variant. Mahindra XUV300 Electric Range

The XUV 300 will get an Electric Range of 400 kms. As per Goenka, the Long-range one will be able to traverse around 350-400 kms on a single charge, a mighty impressive claim considering the average range of electric vehicles is somewhere around 200 kms, which will be the case for the standard range variant. It might get an eco and sport mode.

Standard 200 kms
Extra 300-400kms

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Specifications

Now, no official specifications are out yet and there will be time before Mahindra announces something. But if we can go by the Ssangyong Tivoli EVR concept that was shown at the Geneva motor show, the car will have an electric motor that makes 127bhp and also could feature a small single cylinder petrol range extender which would recharge the battery on the move. Now, this would make the Mahindra XUV300 Electric a hybrid and not a pure electric. Ssangyong says that the electric motor has enough juice for 130 kilometres, but with the range extender, the car could go as far as 500 kilometres. This feature would mean that more people would like to buy the car in India where range anxiety for electric vehicles is a big thing. And with reports of the car being able to do at least 400 kilometres coming in. Many people would consider this EV strongly.
