Having launched their all-new, compact sedan – the Figo Aspire, Ford India followed it up with announcements on the new Figo Hatchback as well as their brute of an SUV – the new Endeavour. Amidst all these developments however, it could very well be that Ford India may introduce a face-lifted version of another popular model – the EcoSport.

A sub-four metre compact SUV, the EcoSport has played a key role in the sales uptick for the firm. However, it has been showing signs of aging, having started to look a tad dated. A mild-refresh, particularly in time with the festive season that’s getting underway, would do wonders for the manufacturer, by way of getting footfalls back into showrooms and boosting the sales figures. Dealer stocks of the existing version, particularly in the high-end trim are already starting to dry up and potential customers are being asked to hold on till mid-October for new lots of the facelift to arrive. The powertrain options though are likely to remain unchanged and the EcoSport shall continue to be available with the two petrol engines and the singular oil-burner as before.

Ford Ecosport update

Things are all conjecture at this point though, as there have been no indicators towards a EcoSport refresh being due. However, it could very well be that Ford India may have been forced to roll-forward their plans on the EcoSport refresh. The arrival of Mahindra’s TUV300 seems to have brought in some turbulence and this may be Ford’s response to the competition in the sub-four metre compact SUV segment. Nevertheless, Ford is still playing their cards rather close to the chest & we’ll be on the lookout for more developments as they happen. The existing Ford EcoSport range is priced between INR 7.5 to INR 12 Lakhs (on-road) and it shall be interesting just how the company prices the facelifted version as compared to this.
