The Duster will be more of a rugged SUV and the new-generation will be a seven-seater. For those who need a luxurious five-seater SUV, the Kadjar will be the choice. The Kadjar will compete with the Skoda Yeti. Renault will be first introducing the Captur than the Kadjar as that will be more of a volume seller.

The new-generation SUVs/crossovers from the duo will come in sometime by early 2016, beginning with the X-Trail. A new generation diesel engine is also India bound with these new launches. Renault too will be utilising the existing 1.5-litre diesel and the new 1.6-litre diesel engine.

Renault and Nissan both have plans to get their range of SUVs, as this is one of the fastest growing segment in India. In European market, their crossovers have received great response and they will not want to miss out on the Indian car market. As the 2017 crash test norms will come into picture, most of the vehicles will see a hike in their pricing due to addition of more safety features.
