Ford Figo hatchback, which will be manufactured in the company’s new Sanand plant in Gujarat. Ford will be launching the Figo in Europe as the new-generation KA. The Ford KA or the Figo will be sold with a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT engine that will produce about 80bhp of power, 1.5-litre petrol engine with a six-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) and a 1.5-litre DV5 diesel engine churning about 98bhp of power and 215Nm of peak torque.

For Europe, there will also be a 1.5-litre petrol with five-speed manual transmission as well.

The Figo Aspire that we have driven has the same engine specifications too. Ford’s Sanand plant is their second plant in the country and the Figo Aspire is the first-product to be manufactured here.

Ford is exporting Ecosport from its Chennai plant and now it has commenced the production of the Figo hatchback too.

There will be some changes on the KA, when compared to the Figo. This is all a part of the OneFord, the American automaker’s global strategy.

Ford Ka 5

The Ford KA will be launched by the end of this year in Europe and in India it is due to be launched towards the end of September or by October. Ford is also working towards introducing the Mustang in India, whereas it has already opened bookings in the UK. This is the first time the Mustang has been made for the right hand drive market and India will be getting the 5.0-litre if not the 2.0-litre.
