Kahn-Huntsman-1

Cars sporting the Three-Pointed Star are as special as they come. Slap an AMG badge on them though and the mind immediately conjures up tire-smoking, giddy-rear sliding vehicles with a sonorous exhaust to boot. That’s how the immensely capable & globally respected G-Wagen came about to sport the G63AMG & the G65AMG monikers. Those of you who were lulled into thinking that these two were as insanely fun as Mercedes-Benz would go, were so wrong. For, the Stuttgart based manufacturer blended in the best of the G-Wagen platform with UniMog inspired underpinnings & massaged in some AMG magic. The result – the world of barking mad machines all bowed down to their new, exalted leader.

All this manufacturing genius came at a high price and the G63 AMG 6×6 as it is officially called, came with a sticker price that was only second to the electric-drive SLS in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Add to this a production run restricted to 30 vehicles on the upper side and regular enthusiasts were left greatly disappointed at having missed an opportunity to have this exclusive beauty in their garage. Well, not any more.

The Geneva Motor Show was where fans were left spellbound by the unveiling of the Kahn 6×6 Flying Huntsman. They took a 110 Defender and worked their magic in a way that only Kahn are known to do, producing a 6×6 that’s every bit at impressive and works just as well as its AMG counterpart.

The attention to detail is staggering and Kahn have gone to great lengths to ensure that their Flying Huntsman not just looks distinctive but also moves the part. This meant extending the regular 110 Defender nose section by 400 mm, while an 800mm extension was factored into the cabin at the rear. Even the width of the car was increased by 150mm. A mean feat on the whole and kudos to the entire team that worked behind it. The entire drive-train was reinforced, upgraded and reworked to ensure that the six wheeled G-Wagen would leave regular Defenders eating its dust.

While she may not have that AMG magic, she’s just as special as automobiles come and equally rare too. What’s more, Kahn’s 6×6 Flying Huntsman is that much more accessible to regular enthusiasts now, albeit with pockets that are deeper than usual still. For the Flying Huntsman transformation starts at only $300000, a price that undercuts the AMG badged version by almost half! Now is that a sweet deal of what…
