Maruti is working on a performance-range of products -EXCLUSIVE

Apart from advertising as the most fuel-efficient brand in India, Maruti is also working towards building a premium brand NEXA and a sub-brand for those who are tinkered by performance.

Just like the EZ Drive, we will see something for those who need better performance too. It is likely to be named as EZ performance or Easy performance.

The first product in this range will be the Ciaz. It will get a body-kit with side skirts and rear spoiler. The company is also working towards attracting youth buyers. The EZ Performance is likely to get minor mechanical upgrades. Then there will be an engine start-stop option, to switch off the engine in traffic situations.

This EZ Performance will be coming on the Maruti YRA too, as it will be getting a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine. This will be one of the most powerful in its segment.

In the petrol range of cars, manufacturers are slowing shifting towards getting performance oriented vehicles like Fiat will be introducing Abarth and even Volkswagen is looking at introducing Polo GTi. Maruti will not want to lose out on this segment and it has already started to work in this direction. Expect launches for these variants to start some time towards the end of 2015.

Now, the company is gearing up to launch the Ertiga refresh.
