Hyundai is ready with its AMT technology and it has already tested the i10 and even the Eon range. However, the Korean automaker has kept the AMT plans on hold at the moment as per our sources. Hyundai is focusing on Creta’s production as it doesn’t wish to have any waiting period for its new upcoming SUV. The company already has in excess of 10,000 confirmed bookings for the Creta and it doesn’t want to have a long waiting period for this new SUV.

Hyundai had discontinued the Santro to make production available for its other new upcoming models that are a lot more profitable than the Santro and lower end models. The demand for the premium hatchbacks and sedans is higher and Hyundai doesn’t want to let down any of its customers. The new Creta will be priced between INR 7-14 lakhs (on-road) and this will make it highly competitive against the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano.

Hyundai has been conducting customer clinics across the country, by giving the customers a chance to drive the Celerio AMT and taking their opinion on this. The demand for AMT technology is on the rise and Hyundai will not want to miss out on this as it wants to provide all the possible options for its car buyers.

The Creta production started last month and Hyundai will not want to miss out on this SUV as it has a good chance to become the new segment leader.

Once the initial hype of the Creta is reduced or when Hyundai is ready to produce more cars, it will be making space for its AMT products too. Hyundai will using ZF AMT transmissions.
