Chevrolet will be getting the Spin and Spin Activ to India early next year. The American automaker will call the MUV as Spin or Essentia, while the SUV will be called as Spin Activ or Ultiva. As per the earlier plan, the idea was to name them as the latter names, but now it seems that the company could rename them with Spin.

The Spin MUV will be a seven-seater and will be competing with the Honda Mobilio and the Renault Lodgy.

This will be priced at about INR 7-11.5 lakhs and will be above the existing Enjoy. The Spin MUV will get features like touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, reverse parking camera, satellite navigation, dual airbags and ABS. The Chevrolet Spin will be powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that will produce about 89bhp of power and 205Nm of peak torque. Being a seven-seater will cater to those who need a more premium vehicle over the Enjoy.

The Spin SUV will be the SUV and this will be a five-seater. Chevrolet is working towards making it under 4 metres. This will get the same features and the same engine too. At the moment, it is sold in the South-East Asian market with a length of 4.2 metres approximately. There are no plans to introduce a petrol at the moment.

These two will be manufactured in GM’s Halol plant in Gujarat.

Chevrolet will be looking at increasing its market share as these are two fast growing segments. Our sources have confirmed that Chevrolet has been working on both these vehicles and the company has even registered all the four names as trademarks.
