There were rumours that the Genesis will be soon coming to India and some images of the Genesis were shared too. However, when we spoke to the Hyundai officials they denied such a happening.

There are three Genesis cars in Chennai and all are for the plant use. One of them is for the company’s Managing Director in India. Another Genesis has been spotted in India, and this seems to be doing dealership rounds to showcase the company’s technologies. The fourth that came to India was in February 2016 hasn’t been sent back.

Hyundai Genesis in Indi

“Hyundai Genesis will not be a practical buy at the moment considering the price it will be coming at. The Genesis is available in petrol and diesel engines but it isn’t feasible to get it to India right now,” stated the Hyundai employee.

The Genesis comes in sedan and coupe form. None of these will be coming to India anytime soon.

The fact remains, Hyundai’s largest sedan for India will be the Sonata for at least a while. The Sonata available in India is a 2.4-litre GDi engine and doesn’t come with diesel at the moment. However, Hyundai has developed a diesel engine for the Korean market and maybe we could see the Sonata diesel coming to India as well. At least this will increase the sales as buyers in this segment generally prefer diesel engines. Hyundai had recently upgraded the Santa Fe and the Elantra.

The only upgrade that will be made will be on the Elite i20, which will be getting touchscreen system as the Honda Jazz has one too. The Elite i20 and the i20 Active are one of the best sellers in its segment.
