Maruti registers XBEE, is that the name for iM-4?

Maruti and Suzuki have registered XBEE, and but are sources aren’t sure of what the name could be for.

So, we reckon it could be the name for the iM-4, as that looks funky and Suzuki could pull off that name for it. Fronx and XBEE still suit the iM-4 than the YRA or the iK-2.

This can be a perfect replacement name for the Jimny. As it has all-wheel drive, XBEE could fit in. Suzuki has been notoriously for registering multiple names and it is indeed to early to finalise a name. But, XBEE does sound quirky enough and melds well with the iM-4 design. The iM-4 will be manufactured in India and exported to Europe.

The ultra compact SUV will be launched in Europe by the end of 2015 and it will have a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (called as BoosterJet) and even a 1.3-litre diesel will be on offer. The length of the iM-4 is about that of the Swift, but it is a lot taller and has SUV-like design characteristics. The demand for compact SUVs is on the rise not just in India but in other developed markets too, and Suzuki will not want to miss out on this in India and even Europe.

In India, the first player to enter this segment will be Mahindra with the S101, which is somewhat of the same size of the iM-4. This will be the company’s product entering a completely new segment.
