Ford will be launching the Figo Aspire in August, however before that we get you a quick preview of this compact sedan. To begin with, it will be a sub 4-metre long sedan and shall compete with the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the Hyundai XCent. This is Ford’s first compact sedan for India is based on a platform that will share its underpinnings with the new Ford Figo hatchback too. We got a chance to see the Figo Aspire closely, and following is our preview.

The Figo Aspire follows the “One Ford” strategy and this is one reason why it has a similar fascia to other Fords. It has a trapezoidal front grille with horizontal chrome slats and a sculpted hood too. The headlamps are somewhat like a hawk-eye and are pulled back. The alloy wheels are similar to the one we have previously seen on the Figo. There are wing mirrors with turn indicators and a crisp swage line flows across the body. The Figo looks well proportionate and the rear gets a thick chrome strip too. The Figo Aspire is one of the most well-proportionate compact sedans in the country today.

Step inside and you will be welcomed with interior styling similar to the Ecosport/Fiesta. The same layout exists and it has multiple buttons on the centre console. The higher trim levels get a mobile docking system, and the SYNC continues to be an important feature in the car. The centre console has a glossy piano black finish and the automatic climate control knobs and display has been changed. The instrument cluster is brand new and it has all the frills one will need a car.

There is sufficient space in both the rows and three people can sit abreast in the second row. Even the central tunnel has been lowered for better comfort of the rear passengers. There is also an arm rest and the head rest height can be adjusted as well. There is no rear AC vent in the Figo Aspire. The Figo Aspire comes with multiple airbags and is the only compact sedan at the moment to offer six airbags. The quality, and the fit and finish on the Figo Aspire is top notch. One aspect where the Figo Aspire goes ahead of the competition is the stowage space, be it doors, boots, glovebox or even the space between the front seats.

There will be a five-speed manual for both and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission could be offered on the petrol or the diesel. The pricing of the Figo Aspire will be about INR 6.5-9 lakhs (on-road), which will make it a great offering.
