Renault has unveiled its new entry-level product Kwid in India today. This will be launched in several auto markets with Renault and Dacia badging. This new vehicle has been built from ground on the new CMF-A platform. Renault and Nissan will be sharing this platform as we shall witness the launch of the Datsun RediGO this year. Codenamed as XBA, Renault has launched this new hatchback against the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and the Tata Nano.

Renault-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn had announced the launch of this new platform, when he was here in India last time in 2013, when the Datsun GO was unveiled. In a span of two years, Renault has now launched its first vehicle on the CMF-A platform.

The only option for this new vehicle are the B4A, the 800cc petrol engine. There won’t be any diesel engines available on this hatchback. These engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the bigger engine gets an AMT (automated manual transmission too). The pricing of this new hatchback will be under INR 4 lakhs.
