BMW is preparing to introduce the X2 crossover to pit it against the Evoque and this will be launched in 2017. The X2 will be launched in the second half of 2017 in Europe and the two and half year development project is already under development in Munich.

The X2 will sit between the second-generation X1 and the X3. Just like the X1, even the X2 will be a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive option. The X2’s first prototypes will soon hit the road as well.

The X2 will be powered by a range of new three-cylinder and four cylinder engines and BMW is also preparing to introduce the X2 Sport. The B48 engine will power the X2, just like the 2 Series Active Tourer.

The BMW X2 might be showcased in a Concept form at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. This new crossover will taking design cues from elder siblings X3 and X4 and a X3M could be launched in 2018. BMW is looking at expanding its portfolio and with the X2 it will target the Range Rover Evoque segment too. This will be a five-door version and we could even expect a three-door version too.

BMW has plans to introduce the X5M, X6 and the X6M this year in India. At the moment, there are no plans to get the X4 to India, atleast for this year. We could expect the Bavarian based automaker to get aggressive and introduce the X4 by next year in the Indian car market.
