Mitsubishi has been struggling in India with its JV partner Hindustan Motors. Mitsubishi Lancer was the last hit for them, which was bought to India about a decade ago, followed by its successor, Cedia, which could not take replace the Lancer.

These were the Mitsubishi sedans but the company has also been actively involved in sculpting brilliant SUVs like the recent Outlander, Pajero Sport and even the Montero. Keeping Pajero in mind, the company is now planning to launch a new model of the Pajero Sport soon.

The spy shots reveal a lot about the latest design and styling which will be seen on the next Pajero Sport. It showcases the ‘X’ shape front with multi-slat chrome grille holding the Mitsubishi badge.

This form of styling does look very appealing and it seems the company has taken lot of efforts to give their SUV a complete revolutionary look from the front.

The taillights at the rear also talks a lot of the modern design put at work in this SUV.

This time the Pajero Sport will be using a new platform picked up by the Mitsubishi Triton pick up thus the car will be a slightly longer than the outgoing one. The new Pajero Sport will be powered by a new 2.4-liter DOHC 4-cylinder 16-valve VG-Turbo (with Intercooler) diesel engine generating 182bhp and 430 Nm of torque. The current model in India is offered with a slightly larger but older 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel producing 176bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. Mitsubishi may continue to offer the five-speed manual and automatic transmission options but the latter could be upgraded to a six-speed unit.
