Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the Celerio AMT in ZXi variant too.

The launch of the Celerio ZXi is scheduled for 20th April. The Celerio AMT was only available in VXi and petrol variants. Now, it will be made available in the top-of-the-line ZXi trim too. The Celerio ZXi gets all the goodies available in a Celerio like in-dash music system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB and aux connection too. There is ABS and single-driver airbag too.

The Celerio was the first car to get an AMT and since then several other manufacturers are also exploring AMT and introducing on new and existing variants. The Celerio is one of the best sellers for Maruti Suzuki and with its plush interiors and contemporary styling, there is no reason why the company shouldn’t introduce AMT on the top-of-the-line. Still, there is no AMT on the factory-fit CNG variants. Even GaadiWaadi tweeted about it.

The price difference of an AMT and manual transmission is about Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000.

This is cheaper and more affordable than an automatic as the AMT does the job well and fits in the budget too. Maruti Suzuki will also be introducing the Celerio with a 793cc diesel engine that will produce about 47bhp of power and will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This is a two-cylinder diesel engine and from what we understand, it will be priced about Rs 35,000- Rs 45,000 more than the petrol sibling.

This is Suzuki’s in-house developed diesel engine.
