Chevrolet will be launching the Spin, its new MPV in 2016. Our friends at Motoroids snapped a few images of this new MPV, as it was being tested in the southern part of the country.

The Spin was spotted with doing test rounds. Chevrolet will be introducing the Spin with a 1.3-litre with a power of 75bhp or 90bhp and 190Nm or 209Nm and this will come mated to a five-manual transmission.

The Spin will enhance Chevrolet’s brand and product footprint, enabling the automaker to address yet another fast-growing segment in the region’s automotive industry.

The Chevrolet Spin is 4360mm in length and hence it doesn’t qualify in the compact segment. The Chevrolet Spin will be not be available in a petrol engine as so far Chevrolet is only testing the diesel engine in Halol and not the petrol. The Spin that is being tested with the top-of-the-line variant as one can notice the alloy wheels on the Spin. The Spin will be competing with the Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

The production of Spin will be moved to India, from Indonesia as the American giant plans to shut its Indonesian plant and shift some of the production to India. This means India will become a better export hub for General Motors. The South Korean plant will still continue to manufacture new cars, as it is still the engine manufacturing hub for General Motors.

Chevrolet at the moment has two plants in India, Halol and Talegaon, both of aren’t being utilized in their 100 per cent capacity. With these exports, General Motors India is looking at increasing its India business.
